Yep, my Harley clunks...my last harley clunked...all my Harleys have clunked, just the nature of the beasts...I agree with some other guys here too, that a good 75W-90W synthetic gear oil makes a noticeable difference...I use Mobile 1, but there's several good ones out there...worth the investment...

If everything is adjusted properly you should barley be able to hear the shifting. adjust clutch @ clutch pack, adjust primary chain properly, adjust cable properly. 70,000 miles 01 heritage softail, and not a clunk to be heard with regular harley primary and clutch fluids. You can put in in nuetral without even thinking about it. Just make sure everything is adjusted properly, it all works together.

Everything on my bike...all of my past bikes...is adjusted properly...I can find Neutral by second nature...they clunk...[8D]

The service manager at my dealer did not recommend running synthetic in the trans on my 2007. He stated that the 2007's are a little clunky/noisy and running synthetic would make it even more noticable. He recommended running petroleum oil which is a little thicker. So I only put synthetic in the engine.
