I'm really disapointed that with all of the chrome these Rocker C's have that they have these dull polished aluminum wheels. I know if you don't constantly polish these they will get worse and worse over time.Has anyone used sharkhide or anything like that that sealsaluminum. Also I'm not a big expert on polishing. Can you polish them anymore than the factory and get a better shine? Thanksbrothers.
with a mini buffer and mothers aluminum polish you can make them look like chrome, but you will have to keep on them or they will tarnish quickly. put a really good wax on them and they will last longer.
I have spoke with the dealership about having them dipped in chrome. They told me that they could get it done for $425 for the front wheel and $525 for the real wheel and $150 for the pulley. I don't know if that includes the 4 hours labor that was listed on the quote or not???
If you use your wheels and spend 425+525= $950 for dipping them in chrome then that would be quite a bit less than buying 2 new wheels. Hell, you would likely spend that much or more for just one wheel.
I have never had anything dipped in chrome, but I would say that a business that does it would not stay in bussiness if they did not do a great job at it, because they likely depend more on references than some big facility that does it for a factory. But who knows...
Just a heads up from my personal experience. My dealer sent out my wheels for chroming back in February. The chromer had received 4 sets off Rockers. They ended up having trouble chroming the first set due to the metal casting. They sent all thewheels back including mine saying they could not be chromed. I ultimately waited a month for Renegade to have a fitment for the Rocker and then ordered chrome wheels. I don't know who the chromer was that the dealer used. I hope to post some pics soon, the bike is still being worked on.
I like the style of the wheels on the Rocker but I didn't want to keep polishing that aluminum either.Been there - done that back in the 70"s with aluminum mags onmuscle cars.
Good luck with whatever you guys try to do. Just know that chroming an aluminum casting isn't always easy.
