Done the V&\\;H thing to my 08 FatBoy now is sounds great an I am well and truly pleased
so is it realy worth going the stage 1 route should I take it to the dealer or do it my self.
I did the same and no problems. V/H Big Radius. I have 1000 miles and checked the plugs. They are white at the tips so that tells me it is ok with fuel/air mix. I am going for 1000 mile service today and see what the dealer has to say. How is the throttle response? 'll keep ya posted. This discussion is popular. Many posts on the subject in the forum.
I've got that setup (Stage 1, RSD Venturi Air Cleaner [ high volume K&N filter], VH Big Radius, and just installed the Thundermax QQ Quiet Baffles) and found it started to run lean - popping on decel. So I had them re-dyno (lifetime dyno at no charge once you pay for it the first time at Paramount HD, Framingham MA). Worked great and runs perfectly now. FYI not too much quieter, I expected more, but a great low note rumble to the exhaust.
Final numbers: HP 74.7\\; TQ 84.5. Sure, I know it's not a 103 or 110, but thought the info might be of some help.
I think the question was: is worth going stage 1 ?
 \\;
I did the Stage 1 with stock pipes on my Street Glide and I can tell a diffference.
So I would say YES it's worth it.
If you want to warranty to be a concern then you wont enjoy the ride. You can only change the exhaust to the Harley Screamin eagle that are EPA approved and you cannot add any SERT or other off road devices. Your stuck for 2 years or if you have a descent dealer they will honor the warranty even if you stage 1 it. I had bad front wheel bearings replaced and they did not care that i had stage one. Other dealers may care. Harley cares.
