Default Ping or tick while accelerating

&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;I have a 2008 softail deluxe with stage 1 filter,Vance and Hines duals exhaust, and Vance and Hines fuelpak running 91 octane gas. When i get on the throttle to pass a car or feeding onto a highway in 5th or 6th gear ,it starts to ping or tick. The temperture here in south texas is pretty hot.Probably 100 degrees on each day. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

Get it dyno'd... fuel management systems (fuelpak, PC III, etc.) get it close, but it takes a tuner with a dyno to get it fine tuned.

I found some 93 octane here in Illinois the other day. If you can find it, it may be worth a try.

YOu could be lugging the motor&nbsp\\;when hammering the throttle in that high a gear.&nbsp\\; I'd say if you are doing 55mph in 5th or 6th gear, drop down to 4th....that way you are sure not to lug the motor.&nbsp\\; These motors don't like to lug.

Read my mind. Down Shift, V-twins lug at low RPM, keep on top of the gear unless your rollin flat.. you'll love the power you paid for. If not buy a Virago or Shadow 750.
