I went for a ride with my buddies yesterday evening, twisty road in Mt. Baker Washington, I can't recall how many times I scraped the floorboards, it doesn't hurt but it feels uncomfortable, totally lost my confidence on cornering, I almost have to slow down to stop on some hair pin turns, I never have to worry about this when I ride my other Sportster 1200, it corners so well. I am just curious how you guys handle this, should I just live with it? Alex
\\\\\\;
Scraping floor board at night is great cause it freaks Cagers out that are following. \\\\\\; I live real close to \\\\\\; Mt Baker Highway, and it kicks #ss. \\\\\\; Sea level to 6500 ft in a little over 20 miles. \\\\\\;Not to hi-jack the thread, but Highway 20 over the Cascades to Winthrop is one of the best cruises out there too.
Scraping the floorboards is a badge of honor. \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Actually I call it "sharpening" them.
 \\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
Enjoy and don't worry about.

 \\;\\\\\\;
Some ******* will say stupidity but he can't ride anyway so who cares!!

[QUOTE=coop57;3586840]If you ride hard you are going to scrape but you can minimize it by mastering the skill of counter steer. Counter steer input on the bars is how you should adjust your lean in a turn \\;not weight shift.
Weight shift can cause a high side event if overdone the bike needs to lean.
Counter steering will make the bike scrape more. Think about it, while in a sweeper, counter steering will pull the bike into the turn. Meaning the inside track on a right hand sweep, the right side of the bike will get closer to the ground when counter steering. Same applies to the left sweeper. Try leaning your bike over just a little to imitate a right turn. Turn the bars to the left, counter steering input, which was does the bike lean? To the right and closer to the ground.
Counter-steering is the correct way to enter a sweeper to maintain your line. Don't counter steer and the bike will upright itself, pushing you the opposite direction, or into oncoming traffic.
Don't worry about scraping the boards, it is fun and it look cool at night when you throw sparks.
