Hello Everyone
 \\;
I bought my first Harley (softail standard) about a month ago and am experiencing problems that I need some info on. It seems to leak oil through the clutch cable. The Clutch cable is oily from the transmission all the way up to where you can adjust the clutch cable. Is this normal or what is going on? Would be great if someone knows what to do or even just the reason why this is happening.
 \\;
It is a 2006 model with less than 3000 miles on it.
 \\;
Hope to get some responses..

Sounds like cable over lubed.
 \\;
Keep an eye on it.

Wazfat take back to dealer. Harleys don't leak oil they mark there territory.

Check this. \\; You may be overfilled in your trans. \\; Get it good and warm. \\; Make sure it's level, standing straight up, and then pull the trans dip stick and check it. \\; You can use a turkey baster (sp) to take some out if you're over. \\; It's easy to get too much in. \\; Some folks dump a full quart in, and that can be too much depending on your year, and model. \\; I seen this over in touring section as well. \\; Try it and let us know. \\; Hope this helps. \\; CCRyder
What if you don't have any lesbian neighbors to borrow a turkey baster from?

My 06 Standard tranny needed 24 or 26 oz only. I sucked the excess out with a piece of \\;loooong clear plastic tubing I had laying around. I only sucked the tube 1/2 full before I drained it back into the container, had to take 3 tubes-full to get it down to where it should be.

A side note, I filled the tranny with Schaeffer's 75w-90 synthetic, it shifts like I had a new tranny put in. Lots quieter shifts. I'll never put dino oil in my bike's tranny again.
It would seem that the only way oil could get that high up to the adjuster is if the tranny vent tube is plugged. As it heats up the expansion forces oil up the cable, since it is vented to the atmosphere. Check for mud dobber plugging the tube up. Since the primary also vents to tranny it's a double whammy. Ron

I just recently changed fluids on my 2006 Super Glide Custom and I found oil up under the rubber boot around the adjuster on the clutch cable. Where is the vent tube located? I want to check if that is blocked.
