Please don't laugh: all the replaceable covers on the bike (derby, etc), can I remove/replace those easily? Or will a bunch of fluids come spilling out of my bike?
You need a wheel chock, or cheap lift to keep the bike level for the derby to be removed/replaced. Get another gasket for each cover replaced.

A service manual is a great investment to get every detail.
yeah just like poorboy said or have some poor sap come over and hold the bike up for you while you change your derby cover... Be careful with those T-27 bolts they suck and strip easily
There is only a quart of oil in the primary. \\; This will not spill out when you take the cover off. Take it easy and you will not have any need to replace the gasket. Easy job.

If you replace the cover, that is need enough to replace the gasket.
YA DON'T NEED ANY CHOCK OR WHEEL LIFT. The derby, inspection and timer covers all come off easy with the right torx driver. No oil comes out and if you are careful you don't have to replace the gaskets. I've done most of my own inspections, maintenace and chrome changes and never had a problem. Sure if you're always taking the covers off the gaskets need changing but once for an oil fill or chrome change ain't gonna hurt it. \\;
