in disconnecting the tank..... the tube that runs from one side to the other under the front\\; how do you disconnect that w/out ruing the clamp or hose?

in disconnecting the wire harness for doing internal wiring... how do you disconnect the grey harness connection "thingy" under the tank?
The clamps are crimped on at least they were on mine so its a cut off only deal. \\; Just get a couple of new hose clamps from the local auto parts store and don't worry about them.
The gray thingy has a release latch. \\; Push the button and it comes apart.
New clamps and hose... there cheap may as well change them, Have some plugs ready lots of gas gonna come out of there, another set of hands are helpful too?

not sparkplugs,,, lol plugs to plug the cross over gas line, when you take that off gas will flow from the cross over on both sides. \\\\\\
LOL, aint that the truth. I drained and eve tried to suck all the gas out before I pulled mine. The bike and me both still got a gas bath from what was \\;left over.
gotcha!  \\; \\; I already disconnected the braided main line &\\; allowed the fuel to drain overnight. \\; Im hoping theres not much left.
Believe me, there is a bunch left. Take a flash light and shine it into the tank toward the front and you should see there is a pint or more left in. The fuel line can only drain just so much without the pump running and even then its pickup is well above the real bottom of the tank.
If your bike is fuel injected and you disconnected it at the tank its not supposed to drain anything at all. The fitting is like that used for air lines and shuts off automatically when the line is removed.
I've had my tank off several times for painting, numerous bar changes etc. and the hot ticket is mini vise grips. \\;I keep a small tube that fits over the tank nipple with a bolt in one end to block the \\;nipple side, and a pair of mini visegrips to crimp the crossover hose. Since \\;i changed to the braided crossover I can't crimp anymore, but \\;i keep a 4 foot section of garden hose leading to a gas can to catch the excess.
\\;If you are internally wiring your bars, make sure you have a manual \\;and do a search on the forum for removing the wiring harness \\;from the plugs. \\;The procedure has been documented several times.
Good luck!
