Neutral on Transmission
I have a 1996 softail bad boy. \\; When I am idling, the bike does not want to go into neutral when I try and shift it. \\; However, if I turn off the bike, it goes into neutral with no probelms. \\; Any ideas why?

The evo transmission likes vibration. Next time try revving the engine a bit and see if it will find neutral. When Harley came out with the balanced twin cam the tranny wouldnt shift so they came out with a new tranny for the balanced motor. When I read this it made finding neutral a lot easier on my 99 Heritage. Try it and let us know what happens.

Other Sheep was right. \\; If I tap the throttle a little bit, it goes into neutral easily without a problem. \\; If I just let it idle, it does nto want to go. \\; Thanks a bunch.
