My 05 has this and only once did it kick in , stuck in traffic on a 100 degree day, oil temp hit 280.  \\;I think it helped keep the ike cool and as soon as I got moving it turned off and the rear cyl started to fire again.
ahhh im glad someone brought this up. i was thinking the same exact thing.....hopefully there will be more info on this when my bike comes in next year
