Ok, am trying to decide between two bikes (see above). Has anyone had both and can give me the pro's and con's? Have ridden both and like them. Will be 99% one up riding and may not make really long trips. Just local riding through the mountains and such here in Arkansas.
I just made this same decision, and finally decided on the Heritage. The other day my wife and I were having the old "what would you do with a million dollars if you had it" conversation. Originally I started to say I'd buy another new bike, but after thinking about it, I honestly can say that if I had all the money in the world, I'd buy the exact same bike I have now. I could not be happier.

Thanks!!
Think about what kind of riding you will mostly be doing. The Rubber mounted A engine on the touring bikes puts out more power, and can be more highly modified than the counterbalanced engine. On the otherhand, the counterbalanced B engine is smoother around town... and the softail looks way better...
I would have to say the Road King is more functional, and the Softail is prettier... IMHO
If you are going to ride mostly solo and not do any "real" touring (hundreds of miles miles a day with luggage), I think the Heritage is the right choice. I have done hundreds of miles with luggage on the Heritage (solo), and it was an excellent ride. If I was doing that kind of touring with my wife, I would buy an EG.
you really need both.... I have an 08 Deluxe that I am in the process of customising (bar hopper), but going to get the 09 RK Classic also cause I love both bikes and there are really two different worlds.
I am bias but based on your comments about your riding habits I'd go Heritage. I've riden friends Road Kings & Street Glides and I felt like I was in a 4x4 Hummer. Just didn't care for the seat height on those bikes vs Softail.
