Hi, new here and have a question about vibration on longer trips. Have owned a '92 Softail , a '97 Fatboy, and now a '99 Dyna Wide ( with the twin cam of course ). The Dyna is smooth on long trips( rubber mounted ) and I'm looking at a '03 Fatboy (counter balenced, not rubber mounted ) and wondering if I'll be dissappointed with a noticable difference in vibration on long trips ? The '92 and '97 were definately numbing my hands after a while.
Thanks
Mine 06 fatty - balanced motor - used to make my hands go numb from a hi-freq vib until I changed the grips/bars. Above 70, mine tends to vibrate were my buddies with rubber mounted motors say their bikes ride like glass above 70.
My 00 Heritage vibrates above 75MPH. It's so slight. Not even intrusive. Dyna's run smooth as long as you're in the throttle. The faster you go the smoother they get. Down shifting & at idle they shake like a paint shaker.
Savin my pennies for a fat FXR (aka Bagger). Don't know which one.
I will rent a RoadGlide for a weekend. I have ridden an Ultra, and I have anytime access to an 06 Roadking. We all know the Streetglide is the slickest looking, but almost too common. I guess that means most people woild agree, even the EG riders who started the trend years ago fixing their sleds that style and Harley jumping on the bandwagon.
You will be happy with a B-Motor !! I want the other platform for the handling and susp (& carrying capability.) No issue whatsoever with the Softail drivetrain.
