I had a pair on my nightster. They sounded great. I rode without the baffles for a while (until I heard how loud they were).

As long as that's all you've changed... no. I did find it helpful to install IEDs though (of course, that's true even for a totally stock '08). The throttle response is snappier, the sound is better, and the bike runs cooler.
