I have a 92 FXSTS. I went to a wider rear tire. I tried to fit a 160/60/18 0n a 4.25" inch rim and the tire rubbed the inside of the stock bobtail fender. I cut the struts off and added a 9" Ness taildragger fender with custom Arlen Ness struts. I also went with a chain and 46 tooth sprocket. We added the sprocket conversion to the tranny. We didn't move the tranny over as it was lined up. I have a 180/55/18 on a 5.5" rim I may put it on but I think I may have to put the adapter plate on. The fender has plenty of room for the 180 on the stock swingarm. You will need to play with spacers to line up the rim and tire.
can someone please help me out with the deuce wheel question . will it work on my 96 softail ?
What year Deuce rim are you putting on it. I believe they are 17x4.5". You may have a problem putting over a 150 on the stock rear fender. My 160 scrubbed pretty bad with the bobtail fender so I changed to the wider ness fender.I'm running a 18x4.25" rim on the stock swingarm with no problem.
I do have a scanner but it will be a week or so before I can scan the pages because my manual is at my fathers shop.
When I get them I will scan them up and post them.... hopefully we can figure this out then........mail a case of beer hahah wow havent heard that one before.
Stutless fender allows more clearance
Newer pulley with smaller belt allows more clearance(front and rear)
Wider wheel allowing for wider tire
Correct spacing to keep belt aligned properly
Newer brake caliper allow more clearance .......Hopefully the swingarm is wide enough I can't tell just by lookingProbably newer belt guard to add clearnce.
Possibly new rotor to match new caliper
You're well on your way, it will be a lot easier if you swap out the swing arm for a 2000+ swing arm. You have to use your pivot bolt from your old swing arm. I have several of these 2000+ swing arms if you need one. The new 200mm swing arm may make it even easier, haven't tried that yet. The key is the strutless fender, otherwise the fender & struts are a pain. Then just work on spacing. A Deuce caliper is shaved on the back and makes it easier also. Your rim needs to be the same era as your rotor and pulley, ie 2000+ rotors/pulleys don't fit on 1999 and down rims.
$3,000 wow, should be able to do it for around $500 with parts from ebay, etc. Not including paint.
