I've got a guy I ride with that has a 94 with the 16/5/180 you have. He runs a chain on his and has a lot of clearance.Tells me the thinner belt will work but spacing is an issue moving the center of the wheel to the right. Bolt your stuff up and check it out yourself.Not much to the trial and error thing,just make sure the belt is aligned right or your measurements for clearance will be off. If you have to take the spacer off the caliper to get the belt clearance just measure what you have left and get that size spacer. Maybe just an axle spacer or machine the caliper mounting surface a little will get it. A lot of variance in softy swing arms thru out the years.What works on 1 bike may not work on another. Important to get the caliper centered on the rotor. Not rocket science just trial and error.
