Default Passing lamps+Windshield questions

Ok, I had such good luck with my first question I think I'll try another. Sorry in advance if I get long-winded. The bike is 02FLSTFI with the RK headlamp nacelle and detach windshield. I did not install passing lamps, so I bought the windshield to fit the nacelle without passing lamps and now...you guessed it, I want to install the passing lamps/signal relocation kit. Harley parts catalogs show different part #s for a windshield w or w/o passing lamps, and the parts schematic for the windshields are different only for the side bracket design. The bracket for the windshield with lamps is flat, without lamps is offset. I'm not sure if I can even buy the flat bracket separately, if it will fit my windshield, or if it will make a hill of beans difference anyway. I don't want to have to buy a new windshield just so I can install passing lamps, and it's hard to get the sweetie-pie to ride without the windshield. So, has anyone here run into the same problem? Is it really a no-fit interference with the windshield and passing lamps, or is it something I can work around? Why does Harley even sell a windshield for a no passing lamp application? I mean, really, why not just make them all fit with the lamps whether you have them or not? Make too much sense?

I do NOT have the answer to your question. But, I am thinking of big nacelle for my heritage. and... wouldn't you know it... I broke my windshield and bought new and didn't think of this kinda issue before hand! I HAVE the right brackets, but the Plexiglas is wrong!

HA HA!

Not sure if your problem is a windshield clearance problem or only the bracket. If the windshield lexan causes interference, you can cut it. It's a matter of using masking tape on both sides, laying out a cut line, and going at it with a saber saw and file, followed by sanding. It sounds scary, but actually a fairly easy windshield modification. Here is a link that shows how to cut down a windshield, not the mod you may need, but you get the idea.

I put a nachelle on my Heritage and was going to cut my plexiglass with the supplied template but then I found out they sold a pre-cut one so I went that route. No problems switching the stock hardware over. Whoops........ sorry, you wanted to know about passing lamps. Mine came with all that chit. If you're willing to go non HD, just Google "harley passing lamps". There are tons of different types and mounts. Sorry I couldn't help more.
