Chrome issues
no **** they dont want those to fall off. Had my bike a couple weeks and took the seat off with the strap still on. I got a nice 1" scratch on the fender. the strap went straight to the trash.
just a side note. boot marks on pipes come right off with "easy off" oven cleaner. get pipes hot, spray on rag (away from bike)then dab on the boot marks

I had to make new brackets for my new saddel bags, when i was putting them on i scratched the rear fender a little mad at first but now i think of the scratch as character scar. And we all know that chicks dig scars.
So I started to remove all the reflectors off my rocker. All of them came off without a problem. when it came to the last one, of course, I got a minor, minor, minor scratch on the chrome in one of my lower forks. I'm freaking out, even though it's very minor I don't know if it's going to rust, damage the chrome etc, etc.
I'm new to the world of chrome and i was wondering if there was anything I could do to get rid of the scratch without having to re-chrome it.
thanks fellas.

This sounds crazy, but works great..and scratch free!!! Place a small amount of soap and water on the reflector you are going to remove, (making sure to try your best to get the black double sided tape as wet as possible). Then use DENTAL FLOSS, yes DENTAL FLOSS by wrapping about three or four six inch lengths between your left and right index fingers to make almost like a saw...Place behind the reflector and with a sawing motion, and keeping the dental floss tight, it will easily come off without a single scratch!!! If their is any tape left behind, use a blow dryer to heat up adhesive and remove tape...PS..DO NOT USE ANY WAX OR CHROME POLISH OF ANY KIND ON LOWER FORK LEGS..IT WILL REMOVE FINISH.
These things happen........when I installed my solo seat I took a rag and was wiping the fingerprints off the fender struts and the corner of my thumbnail put a half inch cut in the side of my new seat; through the leather but not through the cloth backing. And my thumbnails are kept pretty short too....
I don't know of anything you can use to polish out a scratch in chrome that won't leave an even bigger area with marks from the abrasive material. The best suggestion here was to get some sort of clear coat into the scratch if it broke through the chrome layer. My best suggestion is to ride the hell out of your motorcycle and have such a good time that you forget all about the scratch. If that don't work for ya...well, you could pull off that mean old nasty scratched up part and mail it to me so you never have to look at it again. No need to thank me, its all part of the service...
Seriously man, I'm sorry it happened but its best to forget about it and just ride.
