The Custom is one of my favorite bikes. To me it has the old school chopper look. I actually prefer the FX front over the FL. Guess that's why I ride a Standard.
I just posted a thread about this. I own a 08 Custom Softail 105th Ann too and I think its a great looking Softail but everyone seems to only buy or talk about Crossbones or Night trains in the softail section.
I also have an fxstc 07, and love it ,I always loved the look of the wide glide front end..customs are very sharp looking and I get compliments all the time..no complaints here..
Just bought a new Viv Black 2008, V&H BigShots Staggered, SE A/C, V&H tuning module, and adding chrome as fast as the wallet will allow!! A few weeks old and already at the 1k service mark. Rides great, hammering torque. Pulls up a hill in 6th gear, no problem! You have to get used to the new 6 speed, the shift spots are 25/35/45/55, kind of right in the middle of normal 35/45/55 speed zones. It's ok though, if you drop down to 40 in 5th, the torque will pull you right back up. It's just different from the 5 speeds. I can hear my buddy's 05 FatBoy reving at 65 when my ride is lightly humming!
Only problem I've seen is this: the headlight sucks! It has an internal rubber "motor mount" like configuration that is too week for this bike. It allows the light to vibrate up and down way too much, even when stopped at a light! Causes road signs to appear to be "strobing" at night. I'm in a serious discussion with HD to have it replaced, but they don;t want to admit it's a design flaw... yet! Some of my buds give me grief about riding in front of me, about how much the jittery light is distracting. Tell the dealer you want a fixed mount replacement thrown in at no cost. If you buy it, the better lights cost around $330.
If anyone has one of these lights, complain to HD. We might get a recall.
I have an 06 standard. Put a 2007 seat and sissy bar on and oh how comfortable, The mini apes and the forward foot controls make it feel like riding an easy chair. Long rides are absolutely no problem. I'm not big on bling, just love riding and the FSXT is a great ride. Lean, sporty, power and never fails to get compliments.
I have a 08 Custom and I love it. The small front tire makes it feel like a sport bike for around town. But she will cruise down the highway like riding on glass with a hellava
pull when you need it.
My buddy has a Road King and he keeps looking at it saying "damn, thats a nice looking bike".
What he said.
You have the same paint, I was going to get black, but when they rolled this one out into the sunlight, I said sold.
The only mod I have made so far are, Rush slip on mufflers with 2" baffles, I love this bike.
The goods are its the best bike I have ever owned. The bads are _________ well I will get back to you. BTW mine just broke down (PCIII failure) and its still my favorite.
Depends on you. I love my Softail, but also the Road King, but also the FXRP. They all handle way different too. BTW I have taken each on a 600 mile+ road trip and enjoyed them all. If the fxstc is talking to you, you better get one.
