I responded to this thread two years ago when i got my Custom, but since it has been revived, I just can't help myself.....

23k miles on it now...I like it better than the day I bought it. Still the only Softail I have seen that does everything well: carves up the twisties better than any heavy cruiser I have ever tried(no footboards!), comfortable for hours of touring, great boulevard cruiser-VERY few of them out there.

so glad I bought the perfect Harley on my first attempt :-0

Same here, got an 08 anniversary and noticed that theres not a lot of talk about them or from custom guys. Why is that? Guess theres nothing wrong with them . By the way I love mine.

I remember when the Duece replaced the Softtail Custom in 2000, man were people pissed!, but the reintroduction has not been great, many riders have moved on to baggers or just moved on, so you don't see as many FXSTC around.

I have a Duece and a Springer and after test driving the Custom, I like the ride ( ok the couch seat is really nice) and it is as close to a retro custom you will find from HD these days. I think HD needs to put a 103 stock in 2011 on the FXSTC and possibly add a CVO using the rear off of the 2009 CVO Springer, now that would be cool!!!! And expensive!!!

I have been collecting parts from Ebay the last 2 years and have a HD Inverted front end, 21" road winder, chrome stock rear, a pair of Bombay Bars and the Custom EasyRider Seat, so I will be looking for a used low mile 08/09 this fall most likely. But I think I will add a set of dog bones, some 10" Z bars and chrome lowers for a while, as that is a cool setup.

Oh yeah, this one will be Blue.

Just my 02c

What's not to love about the FXSTC? Only downside is lack of storage space but if you can be creative, it's not a problem at all. Rides great, sounds killer, and looks awesome!

Default Seat Upgrade/extend?

I get the same thing from my girlfriend when we go for long rides that the backrest is WAY to low. Has anyone got this sent out to have the backrest brought up higher or found a way to keep the incredibly comfy seat but add a higher backrest?

i have an 03 custom and all I can say is its 10,000 times nicer than my old 78 Sporty! Nothing else to compare it with except my buddies 99 super glide. We both agreed that mine rides alot nicer.

I have always liked the bobtail rear fender, then once i sat on one i was sold. Also the looks of the fx front end will always be better to me.
