I have a 08 Custom and I love it. The small front tire makes it feel like a sport bike for around town. But she will cruise down the highway like riding on glass with a hellava
pull when you need it.
My buddy has a Road King and he keeps looking at it saying "damn, thats a nice looking bike".
07 FXSTC here. Like the others, I like the lighter feeling front end compared to the touring models, yet it rides great on the long trips & at highway speeds. Cool retro chopper styling too. Maybe there's a downside if you like all the tour bags... the saddlebags made for it aren't all that big. I prefer upper bags anyway, and you can tie quite a bit onto both sides (F&B) of the back seat.
I have an 07 also and its a great looking and riding bike. Not to mention it has one of the best seats ever put on a Harley. Its no sport bike by any stretch of the imagination, but it will keep up with one a lot better than you would think a bike as big and heavy as it is can.
I have managed to surprise a bunch of the kids on mine. In places where they can't use their superior top speed, the low end torque of a Big Twin can make believers of them in a hurry.
If there's a problem with it playing that kind of game its that the big assed tire out back doesn't seem to be able to handle all the power available in lower gears on some types of pavement while its laid over.
I have come close to loosing it a couple of times twisting the throttle a little too hard and having the tire slip sideways over tar strips. Do that a couple of times and you'll learn to watch out for them and back off or straighten out the bike before twisting hard on that right grip.
07 here and it's a great bike. Mine is actually for sale for a few different reasons. Not because it's a bad bike just have alot going on right now. I have a pic in my sig but it's not completely updated. I can't figure out how to change my sig pic.
