I like the solid wheels. One of the reasons I bought the bike.
It moves you around some but its not bad.
The wheels stay on the bike.

I live in Oklahoma...

Today, it was 21 MPH with gusts to 35 MPH. 70 MPH into the wind was interesting..., the crosswinds just make me smile.

Been riding my Fatboy a year now in lots of strong crosswinds... I would agree with Candy Azz, its the big bike picking up the wind that moves you around. If you are comfy riding a big bike in winds, you'll be fine with the solid rims... if you're nervous about it, then it'll be one reason for you to make a change but I doubt you'll see a difference. Even my buddy with his 1200C Sportster gets blown around on gusty days.

Its the wind... either learn to deal with it or park the bike.

Looks like HwyAP a Newbie has been browsing the forum. That is Ok though Always good to search and bring up old topics rather than repeating the same stuff over again.

I do agree with him. At speed it doesn't matter most wheels act like solid wheels they all block crosswinds. So it is mental thing. You believe what you believe and like what you like. For some it is an excuse for the wife to go out and get some more chrome.

Me, I don't feel it but then I moved up from a 500lb Kawi to an 800 pound fatty. Feels rock solid to me.

I feel the wind is pushing the rider and bike together, solid rim makes very little difference.

I think that the solid wheels make very little difference regarding wind resistance when you have a 6'3" and 250 lb guy on top of my FatBoy. I still want to replace my pancakes for some nice radial fat spoke wheels, but that is just for looks.

FYI...as soon as a 'spoked' rim hits around 28 mph, the windwill not travel through it. As for the FB solids, they cannot produce anymore side pull/push of the bike than a spoked rim...unless...your sitting at a light during a huricane!

Yup, that was exactly what I was told...... except the speed was different.

I was riding with a bud a while back in a heavy wind and we both had big heavy bikes, and we were both gettng kicked around bad.

He __ ll. I got blown around on my Heritage too . perhaps worse than on my previous street bob. Or,maybe the wind has just been worse in the last couple weeks. Dunno,i have only had the bike about 3 weeks . I do think the windshield sometimes makes the wind seem worse .. Anyone else agree ?

I was waiting to see this answer. I have always though this to be the truth. If the rim is spinning fast enough wind will never make it through anyway.
