Default Dyna WG vs Softail Custom ride quality

I'm considering moving to a Dyna or Softail soon. Test rode a friends Dyna WG this past weekend. Really enjoyed the ride. Have not riden a softail yet. Would be interested in a little comparison between the two in ride quality. Although my friends Dyna was an 08 model (I won't be able to afford one of those for sure!) I have spotted a 97 Softail custom on craigslist for a good price. I like the look of the softail rear suspension, just wondering how she rides.

Thanks!

Mark

Silvrbill,

Are there any adjustments on the Softail like there are on the Dyna's shocks? Ie...can you adjust preload for a passenger?

Yup their adjustable, but you have to buy the wrench, and their easier to lower if you're into that sort of thing.

Bought a 2006 Dyna Low Rider with 8 miles on it. Rode it for 2 years 6 months. some idiot pulled in front of me and I totaled her. Had over 13,800 miles on it.

I now have a 2007 Softail Heritage Classic. I love the Softail ride more than the Low Rider. It seems to be smoother.

You'll be s.o.l. if you're looking at a 2009 wg. They don't exist. Been removed from the model line-up starting this model year. The only thing I can say is there seems to be more available for the softail line-up than the dyna's.
