i'm looking to remove my license plate from
the fender. i've found plates that attach to the axle.
i'm looking for a swingarm mounted plate, somebody
must make one. any info and pictures would be appreciated!
Joker Machine makes a very quality product. I have it on my Fatboy. It comes two ways one with the tailight and one with only the plate light. They are pricey but in opinion well worth the cost. See my gallary I have a pretty good pic of it there. Here is the link to their web page. www.jokermachine.com
thanks all for the responce and pictures. i think i'm going to get
the curved kuryaken unfortunatly in wis. the dimensions are a bit larger
by an inch , i'll have to trim my plates a bit.
anyone ever heard of anyone getting a ticket for having one of these mounted?? I always heard that it was illegal to have it standing up and down. I heard it had to still be parallel to the ground to make it legal. Is this correct and people just never get tickets for it??
I would like to get one, but I would hate to get a stupid ticket the next time I roll through a License Check
From a law enforcement perspective, I have used the I can't see your plate" as probable cause for a traffic stop. If its mounted on the swingarm, it cant be seen from the rear if one stands just a bit to the opposite side of the bike. Same goes for sportbike riders who hide their plates under the tail and then the plates get hidden by the rear tire.
Have I ever written a ticket? No. Do I ride? Yes, thre personal bikes, all modified in some way. Work? I am a traffic cop and ride at work also.
Personally, if someone is acting stupid and, at a minimum, needs a talking to, the relocated plate can offer some probable cause for a contact. I have never issued a cite for it, though, and know of no one ever receiving one or issuing one.
What Carl said makes great since to me. If your don't break the law or have any outstanding tickets then relocating the plate should not be a problem. But if you do not want to be stopped for any reason then maybe this would not be the best mod for you. I personally think it's worth the cool factor to be stopped once in a blue moon for such a thing because except for the speed limit I tend to obey most laws. lol.... And if I get stopped for doing 50 in a 40 then he does not need a reason to pull me over.
