Default Year and model numbers?

Is there anyway to find out how many of a year and model HD built?
Is there anyway to tell what number bike you own by the VIN?
I tried a web search but I did not turn up anything
Thanks in advance

go to www.harley-davidson.com , and create an Online Profile. That should be able to tell you basics of the year and model, at least for my bike when I enter the VIN.

But I think your best bet, is to find a local dealer, and talk to someone that knows something, most likely I would go directly to the Service Department manager, usually they have been there a great amount of time.
