The K&N is a better filter than HD's. Mainly, it's washable and will last a long time. Good upgrade in my view.

might as well. I have put a K& N in all of my bikes in the past and they make a difference in my opinion. I have one in my on fatboy, check out the pic. Nice setup there. I don't have a tuner, but do have a stage 1 download and pipes(don't know whwat kind) because I bought it used and forgot to get this info. I'm wondering if I whould a pcIII or another tuner to, cause my fatboy seems like a dog(slow) I rode a friends deluxe and it was much torquier. Oh well, I didn't buy a harley for the performance anyway. But after reading all of this it is tempting.

An excellent and natural upgrade to go along with pipes and the PC III , do you still have the stock airbox/ backing plate ? If so I would get the Ness Big Sucker intake , comes with the K&N filter . Its an all around better breather than the stocker with a K&N . The HD SE is basically the same setup with a crappy throw away filter and more expensive to boot !

THE NESS KIT IS A GREAT UP GRADE. THE PRICE IS BETTER THAN THE SCREAMING EAGLE. THE FILTER IS WASHABLE AND IT COMES COMPLETE WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED AND A GOOD SET OF INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. IT TOOK ME ABOUT TWENTY MINUTES TO PUT IT ON MY FATBOY.

The K&N filter element upgrade is a good choice. In fact they used to be standard in the HD Screaming eagle air cleaner kit.
