SaS, I've got this same thing done to my quick releases. It latches and unlatches completely, not a problem. I'm not big on the quick release but it makes cleaning behind my bags alittle easier and i like the looks of the bar. Tell your Dad to go for it.

I got my sissy bar back from powder coating yesterday, put it on the bike and it looks almost factory. It turned out really good....better than I expected. I will post pics next week. I'm almost thinking of making another one.

Thanks for the info. I called him to tell him about it and he went to pick one up.

SAS, How did you mount your forward turn signals? DIY or is there an aftermarket kit.

so how hard is it to install the sissy bar on the crossbones without using their kit...i guess modifying to fit like mentioned earlier...total job difficulty? I am looking at getting the sissy bar and pad today and wanted to do this myself...
