i AM NEW TO THE BIKE WORLD,SO NEW i HAVEN'T BOUGHT ONE YET BUT NEED SOME UNBIAS ADVICE. i HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT HARLEY'S FOR ABOUT 1 YR NOW AND HAVE COME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT I HAVE KNOW IDEA WHICH WAY TO GO WITH MY CHOICE. I PLAN ON JUST TRAVELLING AROUND ON SHORT RUNS BUT EVERY ONCE AND AWHILE POSSIBLE MID RANGE TRIP ON THE BIKE. I LIKE THE HERITAGE CLAASIC AND THE STREET GLIDE BUT I DON'T KNOW IF I WANT A FAIRING THAT DOESN'T REMOVE, ON THE OTHER HAND I AM NOT SURE IF THE HERITAGE IS THE RIGHT CHIOCE EITHER. PLEASE PEOPLE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE ON HOW YOU DECIDED WITH YOUR CHOICE OF RIDE
I see you are in Florida . Check to see if there is anything availabe with pontoons and a sail adapter . Just joking,I'm guessing you have rode a bike before,Right? If not, you may benifit from starting off something a little smaller than a Heritage until your confortable on the street scene. The rental department would be a good starting point. Your preferance is more important than any of our's and by riding them all for yourself, You can choose what suits you. I picked the Heritage because it best suits me.
Another question regarding a purchase. What do most people get for deals from their dealership? %10 off or more? None? I just don't like the local dealership here and will likely travel to purchase whatever bike it is that I get and was wondering what an average dealer will cut in the costs?
Below is a list of demo rides at various Florida dealers, pick a date and go try em out. You have to have a motorcycle endorsment and know how to ride. Have you ridden a bike before?
October 16-19 Daytona Biktober Fest
Oct 25-26 HD of St Petersburg
Oct 31-Nov1 HD of Pensacola
Nov 8-9 Ocala HD
Nov 15-16 Tampa HD
Nov 22-23 Seminole HD, Sanford
Dec 6-7 Gulf Coast HD, New Port Richey
I'm not sure what kind of deals there are to be had out there, but I just got my '09 bones at Tifton, GA HD for MSRP. I don't think they will come down off of new ones much unless its a leftover '08.
Haritage would be a good first Harley. Easy to ride and you can take the bags and windshield off for crusing around town. Alot of my friends picked the Haritage for their first Harley. Most of them are now on StreetGlides though. I live in Florida too, most of us here do distance riding and the touring bikes are by far more comfortable. The choice should be all yours.
