my 04 fatboy leaked oil from underneath the primary from day one. called the dealer, gator harley in leesburg fl, on sat; brought it in first thing monday morning and they replaced the tranny seal asap. never a problem after that. treated me like gold...
I popped a leak at around 300 miles or so.. The new ones will usually let you know quickly when some guy on the line was mad at his pay raise... Typically some assembly or prep issue.. Nothing that can't be resolved quickly.. Mine had a pinched seal.. Fairly common... Even my sales guy warned me not to panic if it happened.. Just get her in for svc. Interesting coincidence I actually had it happen. These are the things that keeps Yamaha, Honda, Kawa, Suzuki and BMW in business.. Though it's simple, it can really p#$$ in your cheerios.. Don't sweat it.
I had an identical problem earlier this month. The thread is titled "uh oh." Lots of good info there from the resident geniuses on this forum. By the way, my problem resolved itself. Too much oil. Cheers and I hope you have similar luck in resolving your little "spotting" issue.
This worries me. I'm picking up my 06 FB tomorrow. My co-workers constantly poke fun at my choice of motorcycle, and one of the things they often point out is the leaking oil thing. I ignored them and got one anyways. I hope they aren't proven right.
I have had mine for 6 years now with no leakes or other issues. It has never been in for warrenty work either nor did I buy the extended warrenty. The bike runs great and I have ridden it all over the place, never trailered. With every brand you will find issues, just drive by your local Honda, Yamaha, ect shops. They all have issues to. Don't sweat it, just get it fixed and for those who are waiting for your first HD to arrive, don't second guess your purchace, will be one of the better investments you ever made. All others will be jealous.
Okay, I have a new Deluxe and just went over 100 yesterday. After riding it I noticed a few drops of oil in my garage underneath the bike. It looks like its coming out of a black hose in front of my rear tire. It looks like a spill over hose? not sure. Can someone shed some light on this? Is it tranny fluid or oil. Needless to say I'm a bit concerned. A new bike shouldnt be leaking anything.
Oh, and since the dealer sold me a new bike with no gas after I filled it up the low gas light came on. Go figure?
