hdwheels.com lists a 21 x 3 1/2 with a 120/70 21 tire for a Crossbones. Anybody have any experience with them ? I called and talked to them, the guy I talked to was not very informative just kind of generic answers... kinda made me question thier ability, did not give me that fuzzy warm feeling.
I have a 2008 Cross Bones . I want to put a 21 inch wheel on the front. I would like to get a wheel with the same with hub width so I won't have to fool with respacing. Does anybody know the width of the hub on my Cross Bones , without me taking it apart ? Does the Cross Bones Share the same Springer as the 2008 & 2009 Screaming eagle Springer ? I looked at a 2009 SE Springer Saturday and it looked like the same Springer and fender set up as a Cross Bones. The Harley Web Site shows a 21 inch laced wheel available for the 2009 SE Springer part number 44607-05.
Another question what determines the Crossbones being a FL verses a FX . The reason I ask is because it looks the same bike as a Night Train except Springer and Floor Boards
I am replacing a rusted out wheel on an '01 FXSTS and I bought a 21"2.15 wheel off Ebay. I didn't check the # on it and when I installed it I found that the wheel is off set about 3/8" to the left and rubs the fender nut. The 44607-05 is the OEM number for the FX model. I haven't had time to find out if there is a wheel kit that can fix my problem, and I really dont think there is because there isn't any room on the brake side to be able to slide the hub to the right then take up the difference with spacers on the right side. From the way it all mounts, the brake is on the right side and I believe that is opposit from the crossbones, you should't have a problem IF you remove the fender. The soultion I see for fixing mine is either buy a new wheel made for the springer or machine the bearing wells in the hub itself. I've done a lot of measuring on both the original and the new wheel but I cannot find any significant differences diminsionally so I'm baffeled.
My suggestion to you is before you go buy anything try to find someone with a FXSTS wheel and try it on yours. There's lots of small differences from year to year that Harley does which makes changing things a pain in the butt.

Hey, I'm looking to do the same thing for my 'Bones, but I want to keep that fat tire and rake out the forks to compensate for the 21-inch wheel. I'm going to go with no fender to start and see later on if I can fit a heritage-style fender on there. Anybody who can direct me to a good site where such a wheel could be found would be very much appreciated.
lngbrder, I have an idea. Why not strip the Crossbone front wheel, Buy a 21" hoop and spokes and then have someone lace up your wheel. This way you would be able to retain the stock hub and not have any fitment issues.
