My '00 did that once. I removed the dash to have a look and the connector where the ignition swtch plugs into the harness was melted. Went to get a replacement and was told that the older connectors would become loose causing an arc, therefore heating and melting connector. Changed it and hasn't beed a problem since. Good luck with your problem, these electrical grimlins can be hard to chase down sometimes.

sounds like a loose ground. I would check all ground connections to the frame before you go to the trouble and expense of letting the dealer eat you up

I second the loose ground connection, since it's an irregular outage and not a full failure.

I agree, Do you know the locations of the grounds?

Thank you all for the advise. Kinda thought it would be a ground issue. After looking closer the ground #1 is the common one to all the issues. Just have to find it now. Again, Thank you!

i had a ground problem that i found last summer at about 11 at night. I put on my high beams and POP no lights wtf, i live in the country so there aint no street lights. luckily the flashers were working and i was only about 5 miles from home . turns out that my high beam wire inside the headlamp housing had rubbed a bare spot in it .. dont know if that helps you ,,but maybe someone else down the road

RoninRI, I had the same thing happen to my FLSTCI. The cowbell rubbed through the wire and shorted out, blowing the fuse. I patched the wire and cut a lenght of rubber gas line, split it, put it around the wires and tie-wraped the thing together. It'll be a long time before it rubs through again. I think the hole in the cowbell is too small (H-D wizard design).

I had a problem like that with my speedo and the check light would come on!

It ended up being a loose battery connection, and it didn't take much, I am sure you checked that?

Ride Safe!
