Wishing someone else may have had and fixed this same problem. Intermittently the speedometer goes out(light, odometer too) and during this time I lose brake light, and directionals. Taillight remains lit and so do the front marker lights. Trying switches and turning the bars don't change the problem. It just happens on and off. Any help would be great. Thanks in advanced.
Once I figure it out, I'll let everyone know.
The ground wires on the frame in front of the battery were slightly oxidized. Cleaned with emery cloth and all is good now. Thanks everyone.
It sounds like there may be a common ground between these systems and you may be losing that ground through a bad connection. If you could dig up a wiring diagram you should be able to trace it to the problem spot.
Since all functions run through or are controlled by the ignition switch I would check the connections and contact points on the connector at the switch. Could be some corrosion or worn out contact points in the switch. Just my thoughts...
i had a girl like that ...turn the lights out and you couldn't turn her on. even if i played with her headlites..but her signals were clear. dont put anything in her tailpipe. so i had to drop her off at the dealer.. never really liked that dealer anyway[sm=icon_rofl.gif]
