To be honest with you I haven't removed the baffle yet. The baffle in these pipes is also what holds the tail spout on. So if you take it off you'll have no way to mount the spout. I am taking it off and making up a sleeve so that I can try it out w/o the baffle.
As far as heat goes, they get as hot as many others. Crap, I had the Yaffe X-pipes which seemed to throw more heat than these. The wrap acts like heat shields because these pipes do not have any.
I love the low-end I gained with them too!
Long as they've got baffles good enough for me. Saw that earlier and so went and picked up a set on e-bay. As far as the heat goes, I think I'll try having coated by jet hot and see how that cuts down on it, if not I'll wrap em.
