I have never been chased. I have had a few dogs look at me, but they didn’t move. My German Shepard hears a bike when I’m gone and runs to the garage door waiting for me to walk in. There have been times where my wife has opened the door and he meets me out there and I have to keep him away from the pipes. He doesn’t like it when I start it, but he doesn’t freak out.
Never had a dog chase me, but I did have a Fox run alongside for 60 or 70 yards last summer. It was really funny, he was trying to cross the road and at the last second figured he couldn't make it in front of me so he turned and ran alongside.
I never realized that Fox's have eye's as big as softballs. Guess the noise from the pipes less than a foot away from his ears was scareing the hell out of him.
For some reason dogs like to chase bikes, Friday the wife and I were in Pa. checking out a Marina, checking out the boats, some very nice big dogs but the owner said as soon as we start the bike look out. I had to point my bike in the right direction get the wife on and start and go quick, sure enough they chased but did not catch.
My dogs love Harleys and are waiting with wagging tails when I come in from the garage. I had a buddy get taken out a couple of months ago when a 100 pound German Shepherd charged out at him and another guy out riding in the country - killed the dog, totaled the bike and twisted him up some. He's okay, though.
I am always real careful when I see those dogs that are everywhere alongside the road down here.
Dogs are like deer, dumb. I saw a dig run out after 25 bikes as if he was a bad ***. before he crossed the 2 lanes to get to us a car doing 65 in the opposite direction turned him into ground round. It even made a nice spat sound. last week a deer ran across the road and into my bike but my leg caught him in the mouth and spun him around. I was doing 40mph.
Hell, my dachshunds hear the me fire up the harley and run over. They know it's time to go for a ride. they just don't like wearing the leather jackets!!
