Default springer?

I am buying FXSTSI on saturday. The dealer is pushing hard for them to do first service. My question is, is this springer front end that complex that I couldn't check the neck bearings myself? Also I should note I am buying the mannuel with bike. Is there some super secret Harley magic they are going to perform on the front end of my bike at this "super critical" as he stated first maintence. Is the springer front end so technical that it is beyond mortals knowledge?

Any insight into the springer front end would be greatly appreciated.

I was told the service should be done at 500 miles. I like doing some of the work but I prefer having them work on the front end.

Springers are a litte more complex than standard front ends. I would let the stealer do it the first time just in case there is something that we mere mortals would overlook.

I bought a Springer last year and I let the dealer check out my bike since it is under warranty. That way, if anything is wrong with it, they will fix it and it won't cost me anything, providing it is covered by the warranty. After the warranty is up, I will probably do the work myself. I paid a lot of money for my Harley and I want the best service possible for it so it will last as long as possible. Like has been said before me, the springer front end is a little different to adjust than a regular front fork.

I have an 04 Springer, I do must of my own work. But I let them do the 500 mile check-up. You got to think of the warranty.
