I got a pair of the HD lowering shocks off of a Deluxe. Do I need to replace the stand because the bike will sit one inch lower? I ride mostly 1 up. Where is a good starting position to set the shock stiffness? I weigh 200 lbs.
I've actually got beaureed445's set of HD lowering shocks he sold me on my fatboy shown below.
You don't need a new kick stand.
I weigh about 230 and have mine about 50% stiffness (two threads). Just adjust both shocks to 4 threads (softest setting) then adjust equally from there. Check out www.fatbillcustoms.com, he has a chart showing approx weight for each thread setting. Mine were pretty soft at 4 threads but now feel great. And finally, no more dirt bike look on the rear fender.
WARG, thanks for the link. Seeing your bike got me to relocate turn signals and now lower it. A couple of nice mods that wont break the bank
Glad I could give some inspiration. Those two things really bothered me about my bike. It took me two years to get them done, but they totally change the way it looks IMO.
