I am a "clean freak" and a "detail freak" too. Nothing is allowed on my bike, dirt, mud, rain, dust, bugs and so on. It never leaves my garage dirty in any way, shape or form. I have been detailing cars and bikes for 40 plus years. You best waxes are high in carnauba and have zero hydrocarbons in them. I also "clay bar" my bike every spring to get all ingrained dirt and old waxes off of it. I then do the 1st coat in the spring with liquid glass and then I use Zymol on top of that the rest of the riding season. Yes, everyone has their own opinions when it comes to waxes.
I used to use Zaino sealant and carnuba waxes but it really wasn't worth it. I don't do shows but I do want my ride protected, so I went with the relatively easy but very durable FK-1000P. It's less than $20.

Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax delivers heavy duty resistance to UV, hard water, acid rain, bug remains, tree sap, and other contaminants. It's an ideal car wax for daily drivers in hot, sunny climates. The high melting temperature surpasses even carnauba wax, which has the highest melting point of any natural wax. Finish Kare 1000P Hi-Temp Paste Wax's synthetic formula doesn't break a sweat!
Another vote for zymol. The jar not the blue bottle that's 15 bucks at auto zone. The key is to polish the water spots and any other blemish out then use a good carnauba wax. Zymol will not leave any white power behind and if you hit any rubber or leather it wont turn it white!!!! swifty
You need to differentiate between polish and wax. I use the Meguiars 3-step process:
1. Wash
2. Polish
3. Wax
If you wax without polishing, it doesn't look as good. If you polish without waxing, it doesn't feel as good and doesn't provide any protection. You really need to do both.
A good quality polymer polish will outlast any wax. The polymers literally bond tot he treated surface while a wax "sticks" and wears off a lot sooner.
The polymers provide outstanding protection against bugs, dirt, etc and water will bead up like crazy.
