When I get the tank bolts out and the hoses off does the tank pull back enough to get at the wireing or does it need to be all the way off, does the gauge and switch stay or do they come off with tank....Never removed a tank that have the switch and spedo on them....
Iam doing this blind with no manual.....

When I removed mine, I took off the speedo. There are cables you need to disconnect under there. Try and drain as much gas as you can before you try and lift the tank. As for the fuel hose I just pinched off each side with a vise needle nose plier and then cut right down the middle to cut it in half. This is a good job for two sets of hands. Also lay out ahead of time where you are going to put the tank so there are no surprises once you get it off. Once the tank is off you will be able to see the wiring bundles on the backbone of the frame. Hope this helps.
