Get all this done then its time to get serious about pulling the motor out of the 80 FLT for rebuild,168k+ shes due....long over due....

I don't know about flat black bars on a Deluxe. Disconnect the fuel line first before sliding the tank back. I learned that the hard way. You don't have to remove the tank at all. Just slide it back to get at the Molex connectors.

Thats what I wanted to know I wasnt sure it would slide back far enough and as for the Bars I went with chrome then chrome and black grips and not sure on cables,I think black might be the best route being how it will help show the chrome off is my thinking..

Got the tank moved back this morrning and pulled the wire harness's out,my Buffs should be here tomorrow,will thro them on and post a pic in the afternoon,then I will order my wire extentions and cables..YeeeeHaaaaa.

Looks like I will get it done by Nxt friday hopefully........Thats one bad thing about living in the country.....Besides dont want to rush it.....

No Pics today.
Went and p/u the bars today got home and they didnt fit(thay were in foam)went back to the shop and lo and behold the box said Springer,the riser was at 2 3/4" rater then 2",was one number off on the part number,cant say Iam pizzed,dont know if Drag messed up or the guy at the shop but now no bars till Thurs so it puts my build behind......
I was hopeing to have it all done Friday....................

Got the Bars today and hope to have a few mock up pics tomorrow,got my cables and wireing measured out so I hope he has the right cables in stock in the am...wire extender needs to be orderd being how I dont want to cut into the wires....

Got the wires ran thru and the controlls on,took about a hour...put the bars on and took a couple pics....when done I will get better pics,wirs wont be here till Tuesday and Iam going to see if the shop has the cables I need right now..Here are a couple pics.....

Good luck with it! Apes on a deluxe make for a hot bike. When I saw "tear down" in the topic, I was expecting to see a lot more frame than that! lol!
