Unhappy Unusual Rocker Vibration

Hey,
I am lookin for some advice please. I recently bought a Rocker, and after running her in I had some chrome accessories added. This invovled removing the engine, and I presume the rear wheel. The bike looks awesome, but she has an awful vibration, especially at the higher speeds. I intially thought it was vibrating thru the pegs, but when I lifted my feet my whole backside was vibrating.
I took it back to the dealer who shrugged me off as a normal vibration. I'm sorry, but its far from normal. I rode a short distance to work 2day, and my back hurts!

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

Maybe I'm wrong about the removal, but I had an engine chrome set amongst others put on (?)

If the wheel is not balanced, would the pegs also vibrate?

Thanks

does it do it on the stand if you rev it? What happens if you pull the clutch when it starts to vibrate? You have to give us some more info.

Not right !!!!

my rock is the steadiest HD I have ever owned it didn’t even shake at 115mph at all it is not right.

Write a letter to the service mgr. at the dealer short & very sweet explaining the problem & the safety risk request he test ride it him self.
Get in writing that in his opinion it is normal and take it to 3 other dealers.
If the bike is in Unusable condition & if it can’t be repaired use the lemon law if your state has it. If not send all info to the MOCO and call your lawyer.

Thanks for all the input - its appreciated.

I tried the clutch thing, and it stopped vibrating (i guess that rules out the balancing?). If I travel at about 80mph and open the throttle, that is when i feel the vibration the most. If I pull in the clutch after 10 mins on the bike, it goes smooth, and my feet actually start tingling from the vibration.

I am going to take 5speedblu's advice and take it in for a written explination.

Default Still stuck with that dealer?

You had a problem before with them if I remember right? If the vibration disappears after you pull in the clutch (and therefore disengage the rear wheel drive) you can pretty much eliminate rear wheel balance or incorrect thrust. If they removed the engine, I would look at alignment. If the Rocker has a front motor mount at the tip that looks like a doughnut(not familiar with this model), look for the engine mount to be centered evenly on the rubber bushing. Check for any untorqued mounting bolts using final torque numbers below. The correct sequence for engine removal & replacement (if Rocker has same mounting hardware as a '06-07 FLHT) is: (1) transmission bolts to engine case finger tight, then 15 ft-lbs, then 30-35 ft-lbs. final torque {aligns transmission to engine} (2) the pivot shaft {goes through rear of transmission to align engine & trans with rear swingarm and requires special alignment tool if similar to FLHT with rubber bushings} to 90-110 ft-lbs (3) the front mount {sets engine and transmission aligned with swingarm to frame} 70-80 ft-lbs. (4) small bracket on right side of transmission to frame {locks all in} 30-35 ft-lbs 5) Upper bracket {between cylinders} head bolt support 28-35 ft-lbs, then the support assembly 45-50 ft-lbs {#4 & 5 lock all in & support upper engine movement}. Should get yourself a service manual (if don't have already) and you'll find alignment specifics for the Rocker in Chapter 2. Good luck, Rockin'!

robzuc97 - thank you very much. The bike is at the dealer now and i am going to pass on what u have said to them.

the bike came back from the dealer previously with only the rear caliper replaced, but unfortunately that did not solve the vibration (fixed the rear wheel noise tho). I was hopin it was the wheel balancing to be honest, coz of its simplicity, but unfortunately its not. They have said they will take it for a ride (again) and hold thumbs, with all the advice from the forum, they will find the fault.

Appreciated it thanks.....
