They took the vibration out of the Softail in 2000.

Default Heritage Vibration

I've had a 1999, a 2002 and now I have a 2008 Heritage. Have never had any vibration on any of them. As said before the one that you rented had a problem. Go rent another one and try it out before buying one to clarify in your own mind that there is no vibration.

Merry Christmas and ride safe.

+1 on that bike having issues. Even my Dyna with the un-ballanced engine gets smoother the faster you go.

I would say the scoot has a steering head bearing problem may need adjusting or crappy front tyre that has a flat spot or inner tire wall problem.
Softails normally only have vibration when stationary at around 60mph I dont think soooo!

My '97 FLSTC did exactly the same as posted evn put my hands to sleep on trip from Pensacola to Houston (but that was off the showroom as tuned) until I put on SE A/C and SE slip-ons. Then went away. Think it has to do with stock stuff: the bikes don't like 'em!
