Has anyone put an engine guard on their softail standard or custom.
I dont think it will fit the "look" I want, but I saw an engine guard save a guys leg in a crash with a truck.
If you have photos of your standard or custom with an engine guard, please send them to me.
Its definitely a personal choice, i personally dont like them. But i think they look fine on certain bikes, just not on my FATBOY. Im sure you will get many different opinions, thats what makes all are bikes unique .Yoy have to repect another guys choices on what he adds or takes off his bike. I dont see it matching with the lines on your Softail Standard. Just my 2 cents .GOOD LUCK

I have one on my Standard. I'd never be without one, mainly because it gives me a place to put my highway pegs. There's a photo in my signature picture.
I have Harleys engine guard on my FXST. However, I do not have any pictures to share.
I do like the look and function of the guards. As mentioned, it is nice alternative foot peg. Also, I just had Harleys fog light kit installed. The engine / fog light combination, IMHO, is a reasonable and cost effective way to add two additional points of light to the front of the bike.

I have been thinking about doingt that for a couple of years. It would make the bike more visible with the running lights further away from the headlight.

My thoughts exactly. I considered using Motolight or Kuryakyn lighting systems, but they are more expensive.
It is still too soon to provide an informed opinion on the Harley lights though. Initially, I am pleased; they seem bright enough and the housings look good.
I installed a std chrome Big Twin H-D engine guard on my FXSTS (springer). It was good looking and not noticeable to me. Unfortunately , no pic to share. I think all H-Ds should have an engine guard or as some of us more properly call them "crash bars." YMMV
