So I just put some beach bars on my Fatboy, but after seeing them on, and everyone else with Apes, I think I'm going to change them.. I am going to go with the Carlini Gangster Apes.. Probably the 18"... Does anyone know what cable lengths I will need to put these on, and the best place to get the cables??
I put on some Magnum (Chromite II) brake, clutch and tr/idle. I got the 74" for the clutch, 54" for the brake line and 56" for tr/idle. Expensive but great looking steel braided cables. I have 18" Flyin' apes BTW.
Awesome, thanks, but now I am considering the 16"ers after talking about how high they will be on me, only being 5'6"... You think those cable lengths would be the same for 16's, or would there be too much slack?
If you decide to get the 16"ers, take 2" off of everything BUT NOT the brake line, leave the brake line just as in my order so you can wire it thru the entire OEM path nice n' loose.
Here is the list my wife went off of for my parts for Christmas. This was for 14" Gangster Apes. DS stands for Drag specialties, followed by the part number. The plus 9" may seem way long, but it allowed me to run the cables with the flow of the whole bar rather than hanging straight down and looking short. One that is +6" might work just as well, but I figured to long would be better than too short. Hopefully I will have pics after tonight. I am planning on having it all done. Heres all I have to show so far.

Bike is looking great bro!
Hint, I don't know why but if you take the Magnum's chart, the +6 is not exactly Harley's stock +6... Harley's correct lenght for example would have to be +10 (instead of the +6 I got from Magnum)... bottom line, the best is to present the bars and like in your case follow the exact path you want to wire with your lines.
I'm also leaning towards getting some apes for my Fatboy. My main reason, other than I love the way they look, is to get more comfortable on the bike on long rides. I'm also 5'6" & even after putting a set of pull back risers on my bike with the stock bars, I'm still reaching more than I like. I can't lean back against the backrest, & I need to due to a bad back. I'm just trying to figure out which bar to get. I can't afford to just guess, and then find out I made a mistake. I'm gonna do some searching around my area for some used bars in different sizes,(height & pullback), & experiment before I make a purchase.
