I am wondering how you Guys like your Bikes and what do you have to say about them. I am looking at some older EVO Softail Models 88-97 and would like to know how you feel about these models and how many here have a Older EVO Model? I will be looking for one when I sell the Sporty and want to stay with a Big Bike, I already have a Touring Bike and do not need 2 of them.
All I can say is try one, see if you like it. I love mine, and I had the choice between a TC and an evo, since this was my first Harley, I opted for the evo, and have no regrets. Yep, when your sitting at a red light, it shakes, it vibrates, and it's sounds great, some don't like it, some do. Mine works great for an in town runner, and sails down the highways with ease and grace, so you won't hear me whining about the evo vib, I eat it up.
I like mine, although it is my first Harley, and the only touring bike I've ridden was my Dad's 1970 Electra Glide, but we shouldn't use that as an example.
Mine falls into your category and I've done 400 mile days with it and didn't feel any worse for wear. My wife and I did 600+ miles one weekend and she started to figit around a bit the last 100 or so on the way home. I'm 170lbs, she's 120lbs if that makes a difference. I do like to stop every 50-100 miles though, just because I can, but I don't have to.
I've been told that one ride on a big touring bike would make me not even want to look at the Springer again, which may be true, but they just ain't my style. I like what I have and wouldn't hesitate to head across country with it on a moment's notice.
Have a 95 Nostalgia. Looks great, rides good and has never failed me. The ride on an older Evo is not even close to the 2003 Ultra I sold 5 months ago. I may pick up a 97 Heritage Softail in the next few months, then I would sell the 95. It was nice having two.
I ride a 85 fxst bought in 84, It vibrates like hell compared to the newer ones,I like that, It's old.....I like that.........Has charcter...i like that. I rode an 06 for 30 miles and it was so smooth it bored me. To me something is lost in the newer bikes. I wouldn't want one ......just my opinion
