Default Advice on apes.

Been thinking about switching to apes for a while now, but I need/want to keep my windshield for long trips. I am thinking about 12" Carlini flyin' apes. So it won't look to odd with windshield. I read somewhere on here that Heritage bars will fit on a Fatboy (08) without having to replace cables or extend wires. If I looked at the right ones on HDs web site, the Heritage bars are 12". So, I should be able to make the change for just the price of the bars. If anybody tell if my thinking is right or not, I would appreciate it.

I just installed Wild1 10" apes on an 08 fatboy without changing any cables. Check out my album.

I would think you would have to change your cables and extend wiring for the 12" apes. Since the 12's are going to be 4-5 inches over stock. especially if your going to internally wire then it will take a little bit more wire. But thats my thoughts just thinking off the top of my head...could be wrong.

Nice. what bars are those? They look good on there and 10" just might be enough. How is the ride, more comfortable?

Only had them on a couple weeks. So far I love them. Longest ride was 15 miles. It's cold in Ohio in January!!!! Yeah, I love the look and feel. Wasn't sure if I wanted apes or drags. Bought drags and never put them on. Read several blogs promoting Heritage bars for a Fatboy, but there only 1" in diameter. Wanted to stay with the FAT bar. Check out the Wild1 website. I only paid $60 for these NEW on ebay. The Wild1 mini apes are perfect for me and I'm about 5'10". Hated the stock bars. I raised and lowered them over and over trying find a good fit and couldn't. ALSO, I noticed the apes changed where I sit on the bike. I'm more comfortable on the seat as well. Of course when the snow melts I'll be "testing" them again.

What are some other brands other than Carlini and Wild 1's?
