Never really thought about putting bags on my 06 Fatty. But recently I've seen a bike or two with bags in places that I could live with if I had them on mine (like behind the sissy bar, at the botton of the a-frame, on either side of the handle bars.
If anyone has photos of bags in similar locations or other innovative locations please share.
It's tough to find a bag that will fit at the bottom of the frame on fatboy without hitting the fender while turned. I wanted to put one here but found teh one I got was too big for that.
There are many different size bags, too. You have to take into account if you will be changing the pipes in the future (looks like you have stock, or SE slip-ons), because some bags will be too big and lay on the pipe. But, I do think the detachable stuff is the way to go. Yeah, more expensive, but if you need bags, you got 'em. Wanna ride solo? No problem. Best of both worlds. There are many brands out there that are reasonably priced. If the price is no biggie, Harley does sell hard bags for the FB, you just get them painted the same color as the bike. Pricey, though.
Just my two cents. Even though bags don't really make a bike like the Fatboy look lean and mean, (or any Softail for that matter) they are a God sent. Its so awesome to be able to throw stuff in them without having to worry about how you're gonna carry something or having to wear a backpack. I put bags on my Deluxe and I went with the ones HD made specifically for the Deluxe. Somehow, they still manage to keep the Deluxe's great looks. They have similar bags for the Fatboy. Also really like the idea of quick detach bags too. Good luck!

Reason: Typo
I have a few diff bags that I use for certain reasons. First was the cheap little bag over my headlight, couldn't find a better spot for it due to size and the strap used for mounting it. Then I got a T-Bag that slips over the backrest and sets on my metal rack. That is great for dropping in a rain suit, or a hat and glasses. It's quick to access and a nice bag. Then I got used Harley saddle bags that bolt on from a member here. From a Springer I think. They cleared the stock pipes, so that was good. Now I also added the Rocker fork bag to the front. Haven't decided yet if I like that one. Haven't been home to ride after installing that one. Had to modify the bracket to fit the Fattie front end.
I have my 2000 fatboy set up with the quick connect, windshield on the front end and set up to go from saddlebags and tour trunk, to detach sissy bar , to solo fender rack without ever touching a tool except for swapping seats, I can set it up to look like what I want in a couple mins. haven't had any luck on down loading pics, any help?

Yeah I'd like to see photos.
What kind of trouble are you having uploading pics?
