It really should not be a surprise that a Harley Davidson aftermarket bolt-on is junk. Just about everything you see at the dealer that is offered as a bolt-on part is made in China. If you wanna send a message to Harley Daveison, which I do, do not buy Harley Davidson aftermarket Chinese crap.
As long as people keep buying it, they will keep selling it. The only thing I buy at the dealer is the motorcycle. They can keep all the other crap, including the t-shirts.

It's tough to find ANYTHING made in the States anymore. Everything seems to be coming out of Zhanjiang.

That's partly true. I have a whole bunch of items that are made here. You may have to look for them, but they are out there.
I bought a Made in USA shovel at walmart for $7 less than the Made in China shovel right next to it. The only difference I could see between the two was the Chinese one was about 1" longer.
I rode down to the HD dealer today because I had my "stipulations" page with my "#1. 20% off all parts and #2. two free t-shirts at $22.95 ea." and a gift card they gave me "in lew of cash" 2 years ago when I bought the new bike! They can only return your money by not returning your money!?!? they actually force you to spend it there!

I just wanted to get the shirts and spend the 20 something bucks, ya know?
I bought the little chrome Harley Davidson inserts for the calipers and they carried a price tag of $6.99 a couple years ago, they cost $11.99 now and they gave me the 20% off so I still ended up with a few bucks on the card that they would not give me cash for....anyways, the T-shirts that I found and liked were upstairs hiding on the clearance racks. Most other shirts were more expensive than the limit allowed.
One is Made in Nicaragua and the other is Made in USA. I didn't even look when I was buying them, I admit that I was surprised that one was made here! LOL
The $12 plastic chrome stick on inserts were Made in China. I'm thinking about using one as a template and making my own out of aluminum.
My pipes are made in USA.

Don't think so?
Hold it up to the sun and you can see right through it. I'm also into diesel performance, and NOBODY will run a K&N with a diesel engine. Having said that, high filtration isn't as critical on a Harley as it is on a turbo diesel, and the K&N seems to work good enough, but it ain't great...
Do NOT clean before you have at least 20-30K miles on it. Only when it's covered with a layer of dust and dirt will it provide decent filtering.
If your into diesel performance you know this statement is correct.
