Default Fork Cap Question

Putting on Chrome Dust Cap Covers on Lower sliders.. Ran into an issues with the dust seal and O ring.. Im having a hard time getting them to both slide into the slider. The Dust Seal sits in pretty tight by itself but I can not manage to get em both in together.. Would I be alright with out the O ring? Any info on this would be appreciated... Thanks

Aaron

Nope, you need that O-ring in there to help keep the oil in and the dirt out.
If its hard to get on you might try using a little fork oil on the tube to help slide things together easier.

Well I did that, but it seems the O ring is too big. No matter how ive done it the O ring comes out Ive tried even pressure and tried starting on one side and making it around the seal.. Both end up with the Oring coming out.. And other Installation Ideas I could try?

Is it possible that you have the wrong size one?
For instance one made for a 41mm tube instead of a 39mm one?
What year/model bike is this for?

My Bikes an 07 Nightrain.. The Cap came with the dust shield and O-ring.. And kits for a 41mm front end.. I tried Using 2inch PVC to put even pressure and the ring kept comin loose.. Then I tried working in one side and making it around but it was soon visible there was too much slack... So Im kinda at a loss now
