I know HD doesn't offer cruise as a factory option on the Heritage Softail, but I was wondering if there were any aftermarket cruise control kits that could be installed on a Heritage. Anybody know of any?
We installed the Kuryakyn Electo-Magnetic Cruise Assist on my '05 FLSTC and on a friend's FLHTC. It is an easy install, costs $180. You accelerate to the desired speed, then push the set button. Magnet holds the throttle to that speed; you can twist for more speed even when it is set,if so desired.
Sorry I can't remember who it is right now. But there is a company out there that sells the HD factroy cruise control system used on the Ultra's and such, but modified to fit other Harley models.
If I can find the link I'll post it here for you.
The Cruise mount listed above forces you to buy teh hand controls from HD on top of thier kit. it also leaves a box showing on the left side of the bike.
Here is one that does neither of the above. Nice clean instal, with nothing showing, and ALL parts included in the kit.
Thanks Trailfndr, I knew there was another one around, but I'll be damned if I could remember where I parked the link to it.
I 'was' looking at that one a lot because it hides well in a Nightrain and I have its cousin a Custom.
But I just couldn't figure out how I was going to get that expensive an item past the wife without serious questions being asked.
I think I used up most of anything like a 'mod budget' for the next two bikes last winter. So starting that kind of nonsense again this year is a definite no-no if I want to keep sleeping in a warm bed with her instead of on the garage floor with the bike this winter.
