what would you use? fiberglass? I think if you painted it the color of the bike or gloss black you would cjhange your mind about the plastic battery cover. the only reason it looks horrible is because it looks like a plastic cover....
That seems to be a decent setup. I guess if there is some truth to the security system having trouble with a metal cover, then it could be problematic.

The setup you mentioned above from NYC choppers is for the seat only. In their picture they just painted the plastic pan gloss black or atleast I think they did. LOL. I have seen this done on quite a few bikes and it makes the plastic piece look more like a metal piece.

I think on a gloss black bike that the piece looks great painted gloss to match; however, on the denim finish, I think it looks fine stock since it really just flows with the rest of the paint. Hell...even the sheet metal on denim black looks plastic.
