Default removing Chrome???

So I am taking the cheap way out and instead of buying new brake and gear shifter levers, is there a way to strip off the chrome so i can paint them?? I didnt know of there is a chemical i can use or do i need to take them to get sand blasted?

take them to a powdercoater. They will bead blast the chrome off and can powdercoat any color you can think of. Probably won't cost more than $10-$15 per part and it is a lot more durable than normal paint.
